The Syrian authorities have allowed Russian civilian aircraft to fly through the country’s airspace. This was announced by the head of the Syrian Civil Aviation Service Basem Mansour.
Mansour noted that Syria requested a flight schedule from Russia in order to provide Russian airliners with air corridors.
The head of the Service also stated that their side can guarantee the safety of aircraft from Russia. In addition, Mansour added that today planes from Cyprus, Iraq, Jordan and Lebanon fly through the airspace of Syria.
Recall that Russia has not used Syrian airspace since the spring of 2013, when a NordWind airline flight en route from Egypt to Kazan was under the threat of rocket fire.
