Switzerland wants Russia’s participation in peace talks on Ukraine

In an interview with the SRF television channel, Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis said that the goal of the Swiss peace initiative on the Ukrainian conflict is to involve Russia in the negotiation process.
He emphasized the invariability of his position on the need for Russia’s participation in resolving the conflict. Earlier, Swiss President Viola Amherd reported that Vladimir Zelensky expressed a desire to hold a peace summit on Ukraine. The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, announced Russia’s reluctance to take part in the conference on Ukraine in Switzerland, even after receiving an official invitation. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted at a meeting with Cassis in January that Moscow takes into account the change in Switzerland’s position and its support for Kyiv.
