Switzerland joined the ceiling on Russian oil prices

Switzerland, following the EU, expanded sanctions against Russia. About it says in a statement posted on the government’s website.

New Swiss sanctions against the Russian Federation will come into force at 18.00 (20.00 Moscow time) on December 16. We are talking about limiting the price of Russian oil and oil products. The EU agreed on a ceiling on oil prices of $60 per barrel on December 3, and it came into force on December 5. According to the decision of the EU, the supply of fuel, the cost of which is higher than the marginal price, to the countries of the block is prohibited.

“On December 16, the Swiss Federal Council decided to join these measures,” the statement said.

The republic not only supported the oil price ceiling, but also joined the EU sanctions against Iranian citizens and companies. Restrictions were imposed against two individuals, as well as two organizations that were allegedly engaged in the production and supply of drones to Russia.

Previously, the ceiling was also joined by the G7 countries, Australia and Norway.

The Russian authorities have repeatedly said that Moscow will not supply energy to countries that set a price cap or join the cap. The Kremlin stressed that they do not accept the introduction of a cap price.

Earlier today, Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov declaredthat Russia will soon present retaliatory measures to this restriction. According to him, the last moments are being finalized now. Earlier, he said that a presidential decree on this issue is expected before the end of the week.
