Swedish Prime Minister Kristersson: war is “not on the doorstep” of the country yet
Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson called the reactions that arise in society regarding warnings about a possible war with Russia and internal preparedness for it excessive. He believes that war is not yet “on the threshold.”
“Nothing now suggests that war is on the horizon, but it is clear that the risk of war in our part of the world has increased significantly,” the head of the Swedish government said during the Sveriges radio program.
He noted that he was not worried, but pointed out that each country ensures its security in its own way.
Kristersson emphasized that after statements by some Swedish ministers about preparations for the conflict, citizens began to instantly buy canned food, self-powered radios, flashlights and other items needed in case of an emergency.
Earlier, the commander-in-chief of the Swedish army, Mikael Buden, called on his fellow citizens to be internally prepared for the war that could come to the country. In turn, Prime Minister Kristersson called on the population to be ready to “defend the country with arms in hand and at the cost of their lives.”
