Sviridova was unable to collect signatures to register for the presidential election

Irina Sviridova, nominated by the Democratic Party of Russia (DPR) as a candidate for the presidency of Russia, was unable to collect the required number of signatures in her support. This was announced by party chairman Alexander Zorin.
“Today we notified the CEC that we will not submit signatures because we have not collected the required number of signatures that were required in all regions. In order not to divert the resources of the Central Election Commission and other government departments, we will not hand over signatures,” said Mr. Zorin (quoted from “RIA News”). He noted that in the upcoming elections the Democratic Party of Russia will support Vladimir Putin, whom the Central Election Commission registered candidate on January 29.
Irina Sviridova needed to collect at least 100 thousand signatures, since she was nominated from a non-parliamentary party. In addition to Vladimir Putin, who will take part in the elections as a self-nominated candidate, the Central Election Commission also registered Leonid Slutsky (LDPR), Vladislav Davankov (New People) and Nikolai Kharitonov (Communist Party of the Russian Federation). Sergei Malinkovich, Boris Nadezhdin and Andrei Bogdanov also plan to participate in the elections from non-parliamentary parties. Sergei Baburin, who applied for participation in the elections, today, January 30, refused from further participation in the election race.
