The Sudanese Civil Aviation Authority has extended its airspace closure until April 30 amid ongoing hostilities in the country.
“The Sudanese Armed Forces warn that any violation of the airspace will be vigorously suppressed,” reads a message on the Facebook page of Khartoum International Airport (owned by Meta, which was recognized as extremist and banned in Russia).
In Sudan, on April 15, full-scale battles began between the armed forces and the so-called Rapid Support Forces (RSF, numbering more than 40,000 people, armed with armored personnel carriers and artillery), a group created on the basis of Arab militias. The parties are in conflict over disputes over the integration of forces into the ranks of the army. According to the Ministry of Health, since the beginning of the conflict died already more than 600 people. WHO has counted more than 3,500 victims.
On April 19, the parties concluded a truce, but a few hours later the clashes continued. Earlier on April 23, Russian Ambassador to Sudan Andrey Chernovol said that almost all Russians who were in the war zone in the capital of Sudan, Khartoum, evacuated to the Russian embassy. Total desire to evacuate the country confirmed 140 people.
