Foreign Ministry: Sudan does not object to the creation of a Russian naval base
In an interview with RIA Novosti, Sudanese Foreign Minister Ali Sadiq Ali said that the Sudanese authorities do not object to the creation of a Russian Navy base in the country. Russian Ambassador to Khartoum Andrei Chernovol earlier said that the ratification procedure for the agreement on the Russian Navy base in Port Sudan on the Red Sea has not yet been completed.
Russian President Vladimir Putin and South Sudanese President Salva Kiir expressed support for friendly relations between the countries during a meeting in Moscow. The head of South Sudan emphasized that the agreements reached by the previous government are an obligation of the state.
According to the agreement concluded in November 2020, the Russian naval base in Sudan should not exceed 300 personnel and four ships.
