On June 17, Russian President Vladimir Putin received in St. Petersburg a mission of seven African countries that presented a peace initiative to resolve the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. It was led by South African President Cyril Ramaphosa. The meeting lasted over three hours.
During the meeting, Ramaphosa said that it is time for Russia and Ukraine to start negotiations, and African countries can make a positive contribution to this process, he said. Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov notedthat Moscow will continue dialogue with African countries to resolve the conflict in Ukraine, and among the topics that were proposed at the meeting of the President with the heads of delegations of African countries, there were those that can be implemented.
