NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg announced the devastation of the alliance’s weapons and ammunition depots. He stated this at the economic conference “Day of German Industry” in Berlin.
“We need a more powerful military industry, the representatives of which are gathered here today. Our stocks of weapons and ammunition are empty and must be replenished not only in Germany, but also in many NATO countries, ”said the Secretary General (quote according to TASS).
In mid-February, Stoltenberg declaredthat Western countries do not have time to produce shells for Ukraine. On January 10, he also reported that NATO and EU allies had depleted their military stocks while providing aid to Ukraine.
Russia’s military operation in Ukraine began on February 24, 2022. Since then, the United States has allocated a total of $37.3 billion for arms supplies to Ukraine. On May 19, CNN, citing sources, reported that the administration of US President Joe Biden made it clear to European allies that will block the supply of F-16 fighters to Ukraine.
The Russian authorities have repeatedly criticized the supply of Western weapons to Kyiv. The Kremlin said that the Leopard and Abrams tanks would burn down the same way as the rest of Western military equipment. Russian President Vladimir Putin at the plenary session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) June 16 declaredthat the same fate as the tanks supplied to Ukraine awaits F-16 fighters in the event of deliveries to Kyiv.
