State Duma deputy: the exodus of Russian lands from Ukraine has begun

State Duma deputy from Crimea Mikhail Sheremet in an interview with RIA Novosti announced the beginning of the “exodus of Russian lands” from the territory of present-day Ukraine.

The MP recalled that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had repeatedly called on the Russians to leave Ukraine.

“So they decided to leave. Just leave with your territories,” Sheremet said.

The MP noted that he considers this approach to be more honest and fair, so the authorities of present-day Ukraine should not be outraged by the ongoing referendums.

“Today began a great exodus of historically Russian lands from Ukraine. Lands that are being returned back to Russia,” Sheremet said.

The deputy also noted that the Russian Federation respects the right to self-determination and will not hesitate to meet the needs of the residents of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, as well as the liberated territories of the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions.

Currently, in the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics, as well as in the territories of the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions of the Zaporozhye region not controlled by Kyiv, referendums are being held on secession from Ukraine and joining the Russian Federation. Voting will continue for five days, until September 27th.

The Ukrainian authorities appealed to the UN with a demand to hold an emergency meeting of the Security Council in connection with the holding of referendums. The meeting is scheduled for September 27 at 22:00 (Moscow time).
