State Duma deputies will go on a two-week May vacation

State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin signed an order on the vacation of deputies from April 24 to May 7. Vedomosti got acquainted with the text of the document, released on April 6, its authenticity was confirmed by three interlocutors on Okhotny Ryad.

In the disposition, the speaker refers to Art. 28 of the law on the status of a senator and the status of a deputy of the State Duma and the resolution of the chamber on the work schedule for the period from January 9 to July 30, 2023. Volodin granted paid leave of 13 calendar days to all deputies, except for Olga Alimova (KPRF), who had already exercised her right for part of the annual paid leave, the order says.

The document also notes that in “exceptional cases, if it is necessary for a State Duma deputy to fulfill his powers,” including in the case of a transfer on a business trip, a deputy can be recalled from vacation with his consent, followed by the provision of the unused part of the annual paid vacation.

According to the work plan of the State Duma, the deputies will have nine plenary sessions in April – within three weeks. The last plenary week will be held from 17 to 23 April. Traditionally, after weeks of plenary sessions, deputies go to the regions from which they were elected.

The resolution of the State Duma on the work schedule of deputies for the period from January 9 to July 30, 2023 also states that from April 24 to May 7, it is planned to leave deputies, then from May 8 to 14 – work with voters, from May 15 to June 4 – three weeks of plenary sessions. The last three plenary weeks of deputies in the spring session will be held from 10 to 30 July.

An interlocutor in the State Duma says that earlier deputies did not go on vacation in May, but rested from mid-July to early September. But after Volodin became the chairman of the State Duma, the deputies are given vacation in May, but the vacation is reduced by two weeks in the summer.

According to Art. 29 of the law on the status of a senator and a deputy of the State Duma, parliamentarians are annually granted paid leave of 42 calendar days. However, in some cases, vacation may exceed this period, the article says.
