State Duma deputies are trained in military planning on the basis of the General Staff

Three deputies of the State Duma after the start of the special operation were trained under the advanced training program on military planning on the basis of the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, it follows from the materials on the business trips of the deputies, which were reviewed by Vedomosti.

From the end of January to March 1, such training was passed by a State Duma deputy from the Crimea, a member of the security committee, Mikhail Sheremet. And in September, his colleague on the committee Bekhan Barakhoev (from Ingushetia) and a member of the defense committee Andrei Gurulev (representing the Far East in the Duma) studied under the same program.

Gurulev told Vedomosti that the committee offered him to take refresher courses. “I can’t disclose the details of the training for obvious reasons, I can say that it was useful for me,” the deputy said.

“This is an exclusive program for the political leadership of the country, which was implemented by the best teachers in Russia. You will not find training at such a high level anywhere else,” Gurulev said on behalf of the graduates at the certificate presentation ceremony in October (quote according to “Red Spring”).

This is planned training, which was available to deputies even before the start of the special operation, a source in the defense committee explained. According to him, the deputies pass it voluntarily.

Anatoly Vyborny, deputy chairman of the security committee, noted in a conversation with Vedomosti that there are many deputies in both committees “with epaulettes, they are deeply immersed in the topic,” so most do not need such training.

The advanced training program for senior staff at the Academy of the General Staff was launched in 2015 on behalf of President Vladimir Putin. The basis of the course of study is military strategy, public administration, economics and information security.
