State Bureau of Investigation of Ukraine conducted searches in a Ukrainian bank owned by the President of CSKA

The State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) of Ukraine conducted searches at the members of the board and supervisory board of the bank, the beneficiary of which is a Russian citizen, president of the Russian football club CSKA Evgeny Giner. The department announced this on its Telegram channel.
Which bank in question is not specified, but, according to the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU), Giner is the owner of JSC “First Investment Bank” (Pinbank). Searches were also carried out in the office. The State Bureau of Investigation clarifies that the investigative actions were carried out in connection with the verification of information about the receipt by the bank of more than 1.6 billion hryvnia (about 3.3 billion rubles) of preferences, some of which was received after the start of Russia’s special operation in Ukraine. “The amount received is more than 50% of the assets of the bank itself and more than 5.5 times the size of the authorized capital of the institution,” the SBI said in a statement.
The State Bureau of Investigation also checks information about the alleged involvement of Russian deputies or officials in committing crimes in Ukraine through direct or indirect control over the enterprises of the country’s critical energy infrastructure.
On November 11, 2022, the Pechersky District Court of Kyiv seized shares in Ukrainian strategic enterprises that, in their opinion, could be controlled by Russian citizens. In particular, we are talking about shares in Zhytomiroblenergo JSC (95.54%), Khersonoblenergo JSC (99.99%), Kirovogradoblenergo PrJSC (72.9%), Chernivtsyoblenergo JSC (96.78% ) and Rivnooblenergo JSC (93.24%), since they are owned in different shares by legal entities that are part of VS Energy.
On October 19, 2022, the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine imposed sanctions against Giner for a period of 10 years.
