Spiegel readers explain Zelensky’s reluctance to meet Putin with lack of courage

Readers of the German magazine Spiegel are actively commenting on materials that quote Ukrainian President Vladimir Putin at a briefing that he will not participate in the G20 summit in Bali if Russian President Vladimir Putin is present.
One commentator called it a mistake, suggesting that by meeting with US and Russian Presidents Joe Biden and Vladimir Putin, the Ukrainian leader could bring the end of hostilities closer.
“Obviously, he is afraid of a personal meeting with Putin, since it will be very difficult for him to justify himself for his insults against Russia,” another participant in the discussion suggested.
Another reader expressed the opinion that Ukraine cannot put forward such ultimatums, since it is not included in the G20.
“Someone lacks the courage to meet with Putin,” another panelist continued, adding that Zelensky had previously used insults against Putin and the Russians.
A fifth commentator advised Zelensky to grow up.
Recall that the G20 summit will be held on November 15 and 16. Earlier, Vladimir Putin said that Russia would definitely be represented at the event, but he himself has not yet made a decision about the trip.
