The construction of terminals for the reception of liquefied natural gas (LNG) will cost Germany twice as much as planned. Der Spiegel writes about it.
It is noted that initially in 2022 the Ministry of Economy was going to spend about 3 billion euros for these purposes.
“Now, in total, about 6.56 billion euros of budgetary funds are provided for these purposes,” the article notes.
Additional funds may also be required, but their size has not yet been precisely determined.
The article notes that since the spring the country’s government has been trying to find a replacement for Russian gas. Floating LNG terminals can help to do this in the short term. They are put into operation faster than stationary ones, the first ones can be launched this year.
