South Korean Foreign Ministry summons Russian ambassador over Kim Jong-un’s visit

Russian Ambassador to South Korea Andrei Kulik was summoned to the country’s Foreign Ministry in connection with the recent visit of the DPRK leader to Russia, reported on the website of the South Korean Foreign Ministry.
Deputy Foreign Minister Chan Ho-jin, as noted, conveyed Seoul’s “tough position” regarding the alleged “recent discussion of military cooperation.” He also noted that the development of such interaction would have an extremely negative impact on relations between the two countries.
Earlier on September 15, South Korean Foreign Minister Park Chin said that Seoul is considering the possibility of introducing its own sanctions against the DPRK and Russia if there are agreements on military cooperation between the countries.
Kim Jong-un’s official visit to Russia lasted from September 12 to 17. The North Korean leader held talks with Vladimir Putin, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, Primorye Governor Oleg Kozhemyako and other Russian politicians.
The North Korean leader visited the Vostochny Cosmodrome, the Primorsky Oceanarium and the main attractions of Vladivostok. Russian Ambassador to North Korea Alexander Matsegora said that Kim Jong-un was pleased with his visit. Putin gave him a glove from a space suit that had been in orbit, as well as a carbine, as a souvenir of the trip. Before this, the North Korean leader came to Russia in 2019.
