South Korea refuses to recognize new regions of Russia

South Korea refused to recognize the accession to Russia of the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics, as well as the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, the country’s Foreign Ministry made a corresponding statement.
Also, Seoul does not recognize the referenda that took place in the former regions of Ukraine.
In a statement by the South Korean Foreign Ministry, Russia is accused of violating the UN Charter. “The sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence of Ukraine must be respected,” the message says.
Referendums on the issue of joining Russia were held in the above regions from 23 to 27 September. In the DPR, 99.23% of those who voted for joining the Russian Federation, in the LPR – 98.42%, in the Kherson region – 87.05%, in the Zaporozhye region – 93.11%.
On September 30, Russian President Vladimir Putin and the heads of the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions signed agreements on the annexation of regions to Russia and the formation of new subjects within the Russian Federation.
