South African President Ramaphosa urged to end the conflict in Ukraine as soon as possible

African leaders at a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called for an end to the conflict in Ukraine as soon as possible. South African President Cyril Ramaphosa said: writes “RIA News”.

“There is a need to end the conflict as soon as possible, because any conflict must end. And it is better to end the conflict before everything is lost,” the President of the African Republic said at a press conference in Kyiv.

On June 16, Ramaphosa, President of Senegal Maki Sall, Prime Minister of Egypt Mustafa Madbouli, President of Zambia Hakainde Hichilema and other representatives and leaders of African countries visited the capital of Ukraine, where they met with Zelensky. The Ukrainian President spoke against negotiations before the withdrawal of Russian troops, as, according to him, this would mean freezing the conflict.

In mid-May, Ramaphosa, following a conversation with the presidents of Russia and Ukraine, Vladimir Putin and Zelensky declaredthat they agreed to accept the mission of African leaders to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. At the same time, Ramaphosa noted that he would not accept one of the parties to the conflict in Ukraine and advocated an urgent cessation of hostilities.

According to the African President, the leaders of the three countries agreed to start preparing for interaction with African leaders, and also said that UN Secretary General António Guterres and the office of the African Union were informed about these plans.
