South African foreign minister confirms Macron was not invited to BRICS summit

South African Foreign Minister Naledi Pandor said that French President Emmanuel Macron was not invited to the BRICS summit, which will be held from 22 to 24 August.
“In this regard, no invitation has been issued,” Pandor said, when asked about Macron’s invitation (quote according to RIA Novosti).
The fact that Macron did not receive an invitation to the summit, reported edition of News24 at the end of July. It was clarified that the United States and Great Britain were also not invited to the event.
The BRICS summit (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) will be held in the African country from 22 to 24 August. It will be held in person for the first time in three years. The leaders of four states will come to it, and Russian President Vladimir Putin will take part in the summit via video link. On March 17, the Criminal Court in The Hague issued an arrest warrant for Putin.
Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will attend the events in person. Earlier, the press service of the President of South Africa reported that Putin’s refusal to attend the summit in person was “by mutual agreement” of the parties.
