Source: Turkey is negotiating with the West to remove barriers to paying for Russian products

According to a RIA Novosti source, the Turkish side, in cooperation with the UN, is negotiating with the United States and Great Britain in order to remove obstacles related to paying for Russian products through banks. The export of this product is planned as part of a grain deal.

Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the extension of the grain deal until July 17 without changes. However, if all problematic issues are not resolved within two months, the transaction will be suspended after the specified date. The problems associated with the export of Russian grain under this deal have not yet been resolved, according to Dmitry Patrushev, head of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture. Official representatives of Russia at the talks stressed that the provisions of the memorandum between Russia and the UN, which is the second part of the grain deal, have not yet been implemented. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia stated that it is necessary to eliminate violations in the implementation of this transaction as soon as possible.

“We are currently negotiating with Western countries, mainly the United States and Great Britain, together with the UN, to remove barriers to financial transactions when Russian products gain access to world markets. This process is difficult, but negotiations are ongoing. You can say that there is an understanding of the need for the smooth operation of this mechanism,” the agency’s source said.

The Black Sea Grain Initiative, signed by representatives of Russia, Turkey, Ukraine and the UN on July 22, 2022, provides for the export of Ukrainian grain, food and fertilizers through the Black Sea ports, including the port of Odessa. Vessel traffic is coordinated by the Joint Coordination Center in Istanbul. In September, Russian President Vladimir Putin pointed out that the West is exporting most Ukrainian grain to its own countries, and not to countries in Africa that need it.
