The Kremlin reacted to Nikol Pashinyan’s latest harsh statements: the Prime Minister of Armenia, in particular, announced joint exercises with the US Eagle Partner 2023. Also, the parliament of the republic may consider ratifying the Rome Statute. This means that the country officially recognizes the International Criminal Court, which issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin and children’s ombudsman Maria Lvova-Belova. Kommersant FM political observer Dmitry Drize believes that a complete break between Russia and Armenia is impossible today.

Something has not been going well with Armenia lately. Every day, shocking news. Nikol Pashinyan calls dependence on Russia in the field of security a mistake. Then comes the invitation of his country to NATO, albeit not official, albeit at the level of a post in the former Twitter, but still unpleasant.

Here the republic recalls its representative from the CSTO and refuses to host the exercises of this organization. On the other hand, it announces joint maneuvers with the United States, not so large-scale, but, again, the main ally cannot like this.

Or maybe he is no longer an ally at all? A long pause is needed here. As they say, dashing trouble is the beginning. However, let’s continue.

So it may happen that the Parliament of the Republic ratifies the Rome Statute. This means that Armenia officially recognizes the International Criminal Court in The Hague. Yes, yes, the same one that issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Yerevan intends to apply to the ICC regarding Nagorno-Karabakh, that is, this is not, as it were, an anti-Russian demarche. But if you recognize the court, then you are obliged to comply with its decisions. There’s nothing left to write here.

Armenia sent humanitarian aid to Ukraine for the first time. Pashinyan’s wife Anna Hakobyan will take part in the summit of first ladies and gentlemen in Kyiv.

The republic is losing Karabakh, and Russia is not able to influence this process in any way, as well as Western allies, as well as numerous Armenian diasporas around the world.

And no exercises, invitations to NATO, and even formidable statements by the West, which, by the way, are completely absent, will absolutely not help. The only way out is a peace treaty with Azerbaijan and Turkey. Nikol Pashinyan cannot fail to understand this. But one can mitigate the bitter consequences of what is essentially a military defeat by blaming Russia for everything.

Although it was initially clear that the salvation of drowning people was the work of the drowning people themselves. But this does not mean that the Armenian Prime Minister has no grounds for discontent. Why then an ally, if he can do nothing to help in difficult times? Why the CSTO and numerous other agreements?

Meanwhile, Moscow began to react. It is immediately worth highlighting the comment of the press secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov about the fact that more Armenians live in Russia than in Armenia itself.

The figure, of course, is inaccurate, but the meaning is generally clear. This is the argument that outweighs all others. In such a situation, a break is impossible, this is the main bond, and you can say whatever you want.

However, with the further deterioration of relations, changes are possible in this part, albeit not immediately. Break, as they say, do not build.

Can Russia prevent all this? Of course, maybe, just to begin with, you need to come to an understanding that an ally is not a younger brother and not a subordinate, but an equal partner who has his own interests. As long as this is not the case, there will inevitably be difficulties.
