In Russia, from April 1, social pensions will be increased by 3.3%. Taking into account the increase in June 2022, the total indexation for the year is 13.6%.
The recipients of social pensions are Russians who do not have sufficient work experience to receive an insurance pension. Also, pensions are provided to the disabled and those who have lost their breadwinner.
Traditionally, the social pension is indexed once a year, on April 1. However, due to high inflation in 2022, the indexation was carried out in two stages. The first took place in June 2022, when the level of social pension was increased by 10%. In 2021, indexation was 8.6%.
The amount of indexation is calculated according to the growth rate of the subsistence minimum for pensioners over the past year. According to the website of the Social Fund of the Russian Federation, the size of the social pension ranges from 6.1 thousand to 17.2 thousand rubles. per month depending on the recipient category.
