Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin presented the main directions for the development of the Russian capital. On the TV channel M24 the mayor, among other things, spoke in detail about the successes in the field of education and medicine, plans for the construction of the subway and roads. The topics of ecology and reconstruction of architectural monuments were touched upon.
Sobyanin expressed his conviction that Moscow determines the development of all of Russia. The capital accounts for one fifth of the country’s gross domestic product. Over the past five years, the city’s gross regional product has grown by 12.4%, and investment has doubled.
“There was no such project as the Moscow project in history. It is about how to make our city the coolest, best city in the world,” Sobyanin said.
The mayor of the capital said that a new transport frame has been formed in the city. According to him, not only the life of Muscovites, but also the logistics of the country depend on the development of transport, since Moscow functions as the central transport hub of Russia.
Over 13 years, 78 new metro stations have been opened, and another 60 stations are being designed and built, Sobyanin said. He stated that the city set the task of providing at least 90% of Muscovites with the metro within walking distance.
The mayor of the capital also mentioned the 68-kilometer Moscow high-speed diameter and the emergence of new stations, of which 48 have been built, and 36 more are planned.
