The current mayor of Moscow, Sergei Sobyanin, submitted to the Moscow City Electoral Committee the documents necessary for registering a candidate for the post of head of the city in the elections in September. This is reported by TASS and RIA Novosti.
Among the documents presented by Mr. Sobyanin are the notarized signatures of 115 deputies of the representative bodies of local self-government in Moscow. In the near future, the Moscow City Electoral Committee should decide on the registration of Sergei Sobyanin as a candidate for the mayoral elections in the capital, which are scheduled for September 10.
Sergei Sobyanin as his candidate for the upcoming elections of the mayor of the capital, the Moscow branch of “United Russia” put forward the 9th of June. For Mr. Sobyanin, this will be the third election of the mayor of the capital. However, it will be the first time he will run as a candidate from the party, and not as an independent candidate. In his campaign program, he promised Moscow’s “completely renewed healthcare framework”, personalization of education and treatment, and an even more tangible reduction in the crime rate.
