Statements that Moscow was in a special position during the partial mobilization are untrue and unscrupulous, declared Moscow mayor Sergei Sobyanin in an interview with TV Center TV channel.
“I heard these arguments and I think that they are simply unscrupulous, there was nothing even close, that was not even close. The number of people who were called up from Moscow mobilized, they were in the same proportion as in other regions,” said Sobyanin (quote from RIA Novosti).
He added that in this context, it is necessary to take into account the specifics of the capital, where a large number of federal ministries and other departments, industrial enterprises, etc. are located. Because of this, according to Sobyanin, the number of citizens who can potentially receive a reservation from mobilization in Moscow is much higher than in other regions of the Russian Federation.
The mayor of Moscow also stressed that rumors about a second wave of mobilization are being spread in order to sow panic among the population and force citizens to leave the country. We are talking about a provocation, because there is no need for a new mobilization now.
Partial mobilization in Russia went on from September 21 to the end of October. During this time, according to the Ministry of Defense, 300,000 military personnel were called up. On October 31, the Ministry of Defense announced the final completion of all activities within the framework of the call for partial mobilization, including the issuance of subpoenas. Later, this was confirmed by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, emphasizing that “the end has been put in this issue.”
Today, the head of the Russian state, during a meeting with members of the HRC, said that there are no plans to conduct a new mobilization in the country. “Talks about some additional mobilization measures simply do not make sense, there is no need for the state and the Ministry of Defense today,” the president stressed.
