The mobilized Muscovites will be subject to additional measures of material support introduced earlier for members of volunteer battalions, informed Mayor of Moscow Sergei Sobyanin.

The mayor of the capital noted that now several thousand Muscovites are taking part in a special military operation in Ukraine in the volunteer battalions Donskoy, Georgievsky and Marshal Katukov, additional payments were introduced to support them.

“I consider it necessary to fully extend these city support measures to those citizens who will be called up in Moscow in accordance with the presidential decree,” Sobyanin wrote on his personal blog.

Sobyanin called the very decision to carry out partial mobilization “forced, but timely and certainly necessary.”

On September 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a partial mobilization in the country. Only those citizens who are currently in the reserve, and above all those who served in the Armed Forces, have certain military specialties and relevant experience, will be subject to conscription for military service. The presidential decree, published on the Kremlin’s website, notes that the mobilized citizens will have the status of contract soldiers, the level of their pay will be appropriate.

Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu later stated that 300,000 reservists would be mobilized in Russia. At the same time, Russia’s mobilization resource, according to him, is 25 million people. Partial mobilization will not affect students and conscripts, he stressed.
