Small businesses break five-year business development record – Kommersant

The index for evaluating the development of Russian business in the second quarter reached 69 points, which was the highest since 2019. This is stated in a study by HeadHunter, Calltouch marketing platform and Tochka bank.
Small businesses have experienced the fastest recovery, with their Health Index up six points to 76 points year-on-year. A similar index for microbusiness also increased by two points, to 69. The “health index” of medium-sized businesses decreased by three points, to 52.
The index is growing in most of the industries studied – in 11 out of 20. The largest increase was shown by the automotive industry (by 22 points). The tourism industry (7 points) and transport (10 points) are also developing dynamically. The drop in the index was observed in companies operating in the field of fitness and health (by 24 points) and in medicine (by 12 points), as well as in the furniture business (16 points).
The largest growth in turnover is observed in the following areas:
- online stores (growth by 63%);
- advertising, media, promotion, printing (by 45%);
- cinema, sound recording, television, radio, publishing house (by 42%).
Positive dynamics in the number of applications from potential customers was also recorded in 11 industries. The highest growth rates are in advertising and marketing agencies (by 37%), in the field of communications and telecommunications (22%) and in companies involved in security activities (18%).
Medium-sized businesses (+22% of clients) are recovering the fastest, while small businesses (+14%) and micro-businesses (+9% of clients) are recovering a little slower. The slowest recovering industry was finance, where the number of applications for the provision of core services fell by a third.
The number of open vacancies in microbusiness increased by 54%, in small business – by 66%, on average – by 44%. The greatest growth in demand for personnel was noted by micro-companies in such sectors as social activities (by 103%), automotive business (81%) and mechanical engineering (72%).
In small business, growth in demand for employees was recorded among contractors in mechanical engineering (growth by 11 times), metalworking (by 4.8 times) and the automotive business (more than 4 times). Medium business was most actively looking for workers in the sectors of social activity and tourism (in both – growth by 2.5 times), heavy engineering (2 times).
In addition, an increase in the median of the proposed salary was recorded: in microbusiness – by 11% (from 53,400 rubles to 59,400 rubles), in small businesses – by 18% (from 52,100 rubles to 61,400 rubles), on average business – by 9% (from 55,100 rubles to 60,200 rubles).
