Fico: Slovakia will not agree to deprive Hungary of voting rights in the EU
In order to deprive Hungary of its voting rights in the European Union (EU), the consent of all member countries is required, but the current government of Slovakia will never take such a step. Prime Minister Robert Fico announced this during a press conference with his Hungarian counterpart Viktor Orban.
The head of the Slovak government recalled that Brussels wants to deprive Budapest of not only the right to vote, but also other rights.
“As I stand here, speaking clearly and clearly, as long as I am the head of the government of Slovakia, I will not agree with attacks on the country for fighting for its sovereignty and independence, even within the EU,” Fico said.
He also explained that for him, depriving Hungary of the right to vote in the EU contradicts the idea of protecting sovereignty and national interests in the union.
