Slovakia handed over the first four MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine

Slovakia sent 4 out of 13 promised MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine. This was announced by the Minister of Defense of Slovakia Yaroslav Nagy on Facebook (owned by Meta, which is recognized as extremist and banned in Russia).
“The first four MiG-29 fighters have already left Slovakia and have been safely handed over to the armed forces of Ukraine,” he wrote.
The minister added that the rest of the planes would arrive in Ukraine in the coming weeks.
On March 17, the Slovak government approved the transfer of 13 MiG-29 fighters to Kyiv. In the Kremlin declaredthat in this way Western countries “are engaged in the disposal of old unnecessary equipment.” Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov stressed that the supply of aircraft to Ukraine will not affect the course of the special operation, and all military equipment will be destroyed.
Earlier, Polish President Andrzej Duda announced plans to transfer MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine. He stressed that the equipment is in full working order.
Russia’s special operation in Ukraine began on February 24, 2022. In response, Western countries imposed large-scale sanctions against the Russian Federation and began to provide military assistance to Ukraine. Earlier, Ukraine asked the United States to supply it with fourth-generation F-16 fighter jets, but Washington refused this to Kyiv. At the Pentagon notedthat the US position has not changed after the decision of Poland and Slovakia to send several fighter jets to Ukraine.
