Slovakia has become the second country to oppose the start of negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the European Union (EU). This position of Bratislava was announced by the head of the parliament’s foreign relations commission, Marian Carey.
“If Ukraine wants to become a member of the European Union, it needs to take many more steps and go a very long way. The time when countries could get into the EU purely by political decision is long gone,” Carey said.
She emphasized that in order to become a full member of the European Union, Kyiv needs to fulfill all the criteria that Slovakia once fulfilled.
It is worth noting that the first country that opposes negotiations on the start of Ukraine’s accession to the EU.
