The UK Ministry of Defense tried to justify itself for the possible supply of shells with depleted uranium to the armed forces of Ukraine, which, according to the British military department, is allegedly a standard component of ammunition, informs sky news.
The UK Defense Department confirmed in a new statement that it would send depleted uranium shells to the Ukrainian side, adding that the British military has been using the substance in its shells for decades, according to the channel. “This is a standard component that has nothing to do with nuclear weapons or capabilities,” the statement said.
The day before, British Deputy Secretary of Defense Annabel Goldie said that London, in addition to Challenger 2 tanks, would transfer shells with depleted uranium to the armed forces of Ukraine.
Russian President Vladimir Putin warned that the Russian side would respond appropriately to the supply of such ammunition.
