Since the beginning of the special operation in Russia, 28 terrorist attacks and sabotage on transport have been prevented

Since February 2022, 28 sabotage and terrorist attacks have been prevented at transport facilities, informs TASS with reference to the information center of the National Anti-Terrorist Committee (NAC). On June 13, Director of the FSB of Russia, Chairman of the NAC Alexander Bortnikov held a meeting of the NAC.

“The meeting discussed issues of ensuring anti-terrorist protection of transport facilities in the context of a special military operation. Since February 2022, 28 acts of sabotage and terrorist acts have been prevented at transport facilities,” the report says.

At a meeting of the Bortnikov committee notedthat the targets of the special services of Ukraine were Russian transport facilities near the zone of the special operation. To carry out terrorist attacks on them, the Ukrainian side uses sabotage and reconnaissance groups and accomplices from among Russian and Ukrainian citizens.

June 7 Prosecutor General’s Office approved indictment in a criminal case on undermining railways in the Bryansk region. Sergei Belavin is accused of undermining the railway. He is charged with s. “a”, “c” part 2 of Art. 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (terrorist act), art. 205.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (training for terrorist activities), part 4 of Art. 222.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal acquisition and storage of explosives and explosive devices by an organized group), as well as Part 3 of Art. 223.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal manufacture of explosive devices by an organized group). Belavin is under arrest.

According to the investigation, on July 9, 2022, he planted a high-explosive explosive device with radio control between the sleepers at the 153 km stage of the Peschaniki-Robchik station in the Unechsky district. Prior to that, his accomplices had placed in a cache in the forest of the Bryansk region a hexogen-containing explosive weighing at least 900 grams of TNT, mines, fuses and other components. When the train approached, Belavin blew up, as a result of which the freight train and a section of the track were damaged. In addition, there was no transport communication on this section for more than 10 hours.

In April, Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov declaredthat in Russia the risks of sabotage and terrorist attacks have increased significantly. Then he focused on the fact that the priority task remains to suppress the facts of involvement in extremist and other illegal activities of young people. According to him, this is relevant, because of the 127 terrorist acts registered last year, 13 were committed with the participation of minors.
