Siluanov allowed a budget deficit of 2-2.5% of GDP at the end of the year

According to the results of 2023, the federal budget deficit of the Russian Federation may amount to 2-2.5% of GDP. About this in an interview with the newspaper “Arguments and Facts” told Finance Minister Anton Siluanov.
“Now the size of the deficit is reaching approximately the levels that we included in the plan. At the end of the year, its size will be 2% -2.5% of GDP,” the minister specified.
According to Siluanov, it will be possible to say more precisely in the second half of the year. At the same time, the head of the Ministry of Finance stressed that the government has enough resources to meet the planned and additional expenses that arise during the year.
According to the current budget law, revenues for 2023 are planned in the amount of 26.1 trillion rubles, expenses – 29 trillion, thus, the deficit is expected at the level of 2.9 trillion, or 2% of GDP.
In July, the Ministry of Finance cited data that the budget deficit for January-June of this year has reached RUB 2.59 trillion Revenues for the first half of the year amounted to 12.38 trillion rubles, which is 11.7% lower than in the same period last year. Budget expenditures for January-June were 19.5% higher than the results of the first half of 2022 – 14.97 trillion rubles.
