The German company Siemens, which produces turbines for Nord Stream, said that the company did not participate in the maintenance of the gas pipeline, nor did it receive an order for one from Gazprom. This was announced by a representative of the company, his words are reported by Reuters.
“Regardless of this, we have already pointed out several times that there are enough additional turbines at the Portovaya compressor station to operate Nord Stream,” a Siemens spokesman said.
The German network regulator said that the conclusion on defects published by Gazprom is not enough reason to stop the operation of Nord Stream, and these breakdowns should not lead to a stop in production.
Earlier today, Gazprom declaredthat Siemens is taking part in the repair work on the Nord Stream unit in accordance with the current contract. However, since engine repairs can only be carried out at the Montreal plant, the company is unable to do so. Canada views gas turbines as a dual-use facility that is subject to sanctions.
Yesterday at Gazprom announced that Nord Stream will be stopped until the equipment is completely repaired, since the detected malfunctions do not allow for the safe operation of the gas turbine engine. According to the company, the turbine is leaking oil. Gas supplies ceased On August 31 for a scheduled inspection, it was assumed that the gas pipeline would be turned on on September 3. Now the company does not name the timing of the resumption of pumping.
