In the first half of 2022, more cola-flavored drinks began to be sold in Russian retail chains, reports RBC with reference to data from research company NielsenIQ.

Analysts noted that in January-July 2021, 169 brands of cola-flavored carbonated drinks were sold in retail chains. Over the seven months of this year, the number of drinks with a cola flavor increased by 10%: 186 brands were already represented in retail chains. NielsenIQ notes that the calculations were made for commodity items that had “non-zero sales.”

In March, Coca-Cola (brands Coca-Cola, Sprite, Fanta, Rich, Dobry, etc.) announced the suspension of operations in Russia. At the same time, PepsiCo announced that it would no longer sell its Mirinda, 7Up and Pepsi Cola brands in the Russian market, and was also suspending investments and advertising activities, while continuing to sell essential goods, including dairy products and infant formula.

After the departure of these brands from the Russian market, the share of analogue drinks in this niche gradually increased. began to grow. In May, the Ochakovo company released its analogues of foreign brands – Cool Cola, Fancy and Street.

In August, the manufacturer of soft drinks “Chernogolovka” declared, which is going to take 50% of the Russian market, the volume of which is approaching $ 9 billion. To meet the growing demand, the company is building an Aqualife plant in the Moscow region. Its area will be 40,000 sq. m, and more than 3 billion rubles will be spent on the construction of the facility. The first phase of construction is scheduled to be completed in March 2023.
