Shoigu warned of the threat of a clash between nuclear powers due to Western policies

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu warned of the consequences of Western policies that create the threat of a direct clash between nuclear powers. He stated this while delivering a report in Beijing at the 10th Xiangshan Forum on cooperation in the field of global security.

“The Western line of steady escalation of the conflict with Russia carries the threat of a direct military clash between nuclear powers, which is fraught with catastrophic consequences,” he said (quote according to RIA Novosti).

Shoigu also noted that the United States and NATO countries continue to count on undermining Russia’s security. “However, the situation in the special military operation zone indicates the futility of these plans,” he added.

The Minister of Defense again emphasized that Moscow is open to negotiations if the dialogue is fair and equal. However, fruitful negotiations are unlikely to be possible without the West revising “its destructive line, which involves inflicting a “strategic defeat” on Russia.”

The Xiangshan Forum takes place in Beijing from October 29 to 31. It has been held since 2006 and is organized by the Chinese Association of Military Sciences and the Chinese Institute of International Strategic Studies. The Ministry of Defense noted that the event was attended by representatives of senior management, ministers of defense and leading experts from the countries of the Asia-Pacific region, as well as a number of European countries.
