Shoigu: The Russian Navy will receive 12 ships by the end of the year

By the end of 2023, 12 ships will enter the Russian Navy (Navy), Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said during a meeting at the headquarters of the Pacific Fleet.

“Two ships have already been commissioned this year, and 12 more will arrive by the end of the year. Among them are the frigate Admiral Golovko, the strategic missile submarine Emperor Alexander III, and the nuclear submarine cruiser Krasnoyarsk,” Shoigu said (quote according to TASS).

Over the past 10 years, the Navy has received more than 50 ships, the minister added.

During the meeting, Shoigu said that multi-purpose nuclear submarines and underwater drones are being developed. The Ministry of Defense is consistently taking steps to modernize and increase the combat readiness of the Navy, since the fleet protects the national interests of Russia, the minister emphasized.

On September 15, Shoigu is on a visit to the Primorsky Territory. At the Zvezda plant, he checked the implementation of the state defense order, including the construction of a floating dock complex and the modernization of submarines. Then the minister visited the Progress helicopter plant. The company produces Ka-52 helicopters, which are used during a special operation in Ukraine. Shoigu notedthat the combat capabilities of the Ka-52M need to be improved. He also noted that it is necessary to improve the security of pilots.
