Will buy drones, artillery, jet systems
In 2023, 1.5 times more funds will be spent on the purchase of weapons and military equipment than in the previous year. This was announced by the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Sergei Shoigu at a meeting of the Collegium of the Ministry of Defense. The minister told which weapons for the army would be a priority in the light of the experience of conducting a special military operation.
According to Shoigu, against the backdrop of a special military operation and partial mobilization, “requirements for state orders have increased at all levels of control and execution.”
“Next year, taking into account the additional allocated budgetary funds, the volume of financing of the state defense order will increase by almost 1.5 times,” he said.
Urgent measures have been taken to ensure that all government contracts are executed in full and without delay. Control over the supply of especially demanded weapons has been organized, the minister said.
As a result, the defense order is being fulfilled at the level of 99%.
All units of constant readiness, and these are precisely the troops that operate in the zone of the special operation, will be provided with weapons and equipment at the level of 97%, the minister said.
He named those types of weapons that are most in demand during the NMD and the production of which will be given the greatest attention.
Among the priorities are rocket troops and artillery. In the tactics of their use, the use of reconnaissance and strike fire systems, including drones, comes to the fore. The use of these tools will improve the accuracy of fire, and, accordingly, reduce the need for ammunition by a factor of two.
Shoigu announced what would be done to develop counter-battery combat. Its goal is to quickly detect enemy firing positions and deliver an accurate strike on them. To accomplish this task, Shoigu said, long-range rocket artillery systems “Tornado-S” and high-powered artillery systems “Malka” were involved.
Sergei Shoigu said that the troops have almost completed the training of 300,000 people called up from the reserve as part of the partial mobilization of the military. “Over 300,000 reservists, including volunteers, have been trained in two months,” the minister said. Three thousand instructors were engaged in their preparation, more than a hundred training grounds were involved in the territory of the Russian Federation and Belarus.
8 thousand crews of combat vehicles and tanks, crews of artillery systems, air defense systems, drone operators, electronic warfare and communications specialists have been trained.
