Shoigu said there are no plans for additional mobilization in Russia

The General Staff does not plan to carry out additional mobilization; there are enough military personnel in the army to conduct a special operation. This was announced by Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu at a thematic conference call with the leadership of the Russian Armed Forces.

“The General Staff has no plans for additional mobilization. The armed forces have the necessary number of military personnel to conduct a special military operation,” he said (quote according to TASS).

Shoigu drew attention to the “firm patriotic position” of Russians who join the ranks of the Russian army. According to him, since the beginning of the year, more than 335,000 people have entered military service under contract and into volunteer formations; in September alone, more than 50,000 citizens entered into contracts.

At the end of September, additional mobilization in Russia will also excluded Deputy Chief of the Main Organizational and Mobilization Directorate of the General Staff, Rear Admiral Vladimir Tsimlyansky. He said that recently the number of people wishing to join the contract service has increased significantly.

Partial mobilization was announced in Russia from September 21 to October 31, 2022. At the end of this period, the Ministry of Defense reported on the completion of the task of recruiting 300,000 people from the reserve. After this, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the issue of mobilization was “done.”
