Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu held a thematic conference call with the leadership of the ministry. In his opening remarks, Mr. Shoigu spoke about the need to focus efforts on supplying and modernizing the troops participating in the special operation.
“Our immediate plans are to improve the operation of the communications system, increase the effectiveness of the use of modern means of reconnaissance, target designation and counter-battery warfare, as well as the capabilities of air defense and satellite constellation,” said Sergei Shoigu (the text of the speech was published in Telegram channel departments).
According to him, the department also plans to increase the supply of unmanned aerial vehicles to the Northern Military District zone – “from ultra-small to heavy attack.” Mr. Shoigu said that the ministry’s priorities will remain social security for participants in the special military operation and members of their families.
In 2023, the Russian armed forces got 250 aircraft and helicopters, 57 surface ships, 617 thousand units of weapons and equipment. It also supplied 7,200 anti-aircraft guided missiles for air defense systems. In total, the Russian army received more than 20 million ammunition last year.
