Shoigu reported to the president on the situation in the special operation zone

The situation in the special operation zone looks stable and confident; the Ukrainian counter-offensive has not achieved any serious success. Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu reported this at a meeting held by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Shoigu explained that Russian troops act professionally and show heroism in many directions. The Minister of Defense expressed confidence that they not only hold their positions, but also continue to implement their plans.

The head of the military department said that the Ukrainian side is trying to advance in different directions and almost everywhere is faced with the active defense of the Russian Armed Forces. At the same time, in many areas it was possible to improve the tactical situation: in fact, no advance was allowed.

Where the Armed Forces of Ukraine are particularly active, according to Shoigu, a deeply echeloned active defense has been built. Since the beginning of the summer offensive campaign, which started on June 4, Ukraine has suffered serious losses in both manpower and equipment: we are talking about hundreds of tanks and 1,500 armored vehicles.

“We have completed the spring offensive campaign, as the Ukrainian authorities planned, the summer, and now the autumn. And not one of these campaigns has achieved any success – significant success –,” Shoigu stated.

Ukraine has been carrying out a counteroffensive since early June. The Russian side has repeatedly stated that the counter-offensive does not bring the expected results to Kyiv. On October 13, Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN Vasily Nebenzya at a meeting of the Security Council of the world organization announcedthat the Ukrainian counteroffensive can be considered completed – Russian troops have begun active operations. According to the permanent representative, the cost of the counteroffensive was the lives of tens of thousands of mobilized recruits and hundreds of units of destroyed Western equipment.

October 11, Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff General Charles Brown statedthat Ukraine intends to continue its offensive operations throughout the winter months.
