As part of this event, the Minister of Defense congratulated the servicemen, expressed gratitude for the exemplary performance of tasks and wished them further success in their service.
February 17 Russian President Vladimir Putin signed decree on conferring the rank of colonel-general to Nikiforov and Muradov. Oleg Makarevich, First Deputy Chief of the Military Academy of the General Staff of the RF Armed Forces, and Alexander Romanchuk, Head of the Combined Arms Academy of the Russian Armed Forces, also became Colonel Generals.
Muradov has been in command of the Air Defense Forces since 2022. The fact that Nikiforov headed the Western Military District became known February 17.
