The head of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Sergei Shoigu, said that since the beginning of 2024, 50 thousand people have been recruited into the Russian Armed Forces under contract.
The number of contract soldiers recruited in 2023 amounted to almost 540 thousand, Shoigu said in an interview with Russian journalists, clarifying that this made it possible to form 2 reserve armies and 6 divisions.
Russian troops are professional, trained and represent a serious force, Shoigu said.
