Shoigu checked the production of missiles that Russia will “soon run out of”

“Enterprises work in three shifts, seven days a week”

On September 27, the head of the Russian military department, Sergei Shoigu, visited the workshops where weapons are assembled, which are mentioned almost daily in SVO reports. These are high-precision aircraft missiles. The trip is noteworthy because in Ukraine they regularly say: Russia has only a couple of days of missiles left, and then they will run out. Video from assembly shops shows that Kyiv officials were clearly in a hurry with their forecasts.

What is known about the Tactical Missile Weapons Corporation (KTRV), which Shoigu visited? It is the only developer and manufacturer of short-, medium- and long-range aviation missiles in Russia. All these missiles are actively used in the Northern Military District. Here, for example, is one of the reports: “Another missile attack on Kyiv. About ten Tu-95MS strategic aircraft fired cruise missiles Kh-101, Kh-555, Kh-55.”

All these missiles with the index “X” are the brainchild of KTRV.

The longest-range cruise missile is the Kh-101. The Tu-160 carries 12 such missiles, and the Tu-95MS – six. Until recently, it was believed that the range of the X-101 was about 4000 km. But not so long ago, the leader of the DPRK, who came to our country, was shown an improved missile capable of hitting a target at a distance of 6.5 thousand kilometers.

The nuclear analogue of the Kh-101, the Kh-102 missile, is part of the arsenal of Russia’s strategic nuclear forces.

In the workshops where Shoigu visited, you can also see other products. For example, anti-ship missiles Kh-31AD, Kh-35UE; air-to-surface missiles with a double-action warhead Kh-59MK; interspecific multi-purpose short-range homing missile of modular construction Kh-MD-E; multifunctional stealth high-precision missile X-69.

However, the corporation is not limited to aircraft missiles. For the first time it became known that a “highly mobile multiple launch rocket system, equipped with guided missiles with increased accuracy characteristics and guided interspecific glide munitions,” was being created.

We must assume that this is a new generation of jet systems that will replace Smerch, Grad and Tornado. It will be very interesting to know its characteristics and how they compare with the characteristics of the American Hymers rocket systems (HIMARS).

The minister was informed that over the past six months the volume of missile production has doubled, and for certain types of missiles – by 3.5-5 times. Enterprises have recruited new employees and are working 24/7.

“We have an increase in production volume, not in percentage, but by several times,” Shoigu said, noting that all these weapons are in great demand in the Northern Military District zone.

I wonder how the Deputy Head of the Main Directorate of Ukrainian Intelligence, Major General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Vadim Skibitsky, will perceive these words. Just recently, he counted all Russian missiles, including land-based Iskanders, sea-based Kalibr missiles and hypersonic Kinzhals. According to his calculations, Russia has 585 missiles left, firing at a distance of more than 500 kilometers. The Ukrainian general estimated the number of Kh-101, Kh-555 and Kh-55 aircraft missiles at 100. Probably, having examined the photos from the missile workshops, he will correct his intelligence data.
