Shoigu called the tasks of the partial mobilization

Partial mobilization in Russia was carried out to stabilize the situation in the special operation zone in Ukraine, to protect new territories, as well as to carry out further offensive actions, declared Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu at an extended meeting of the Defense Ministry Board.

“In order to stabilize the situation, protect new territories and carry out further offensive operations, it was necessary to increase the combat and numerical strength of our troops. For these purposes, a partial mobilization was carried out, ”Interfax quotes him.

Partial mobilization has become a serious test for the country and the Armed Forces, as well as a criterion for the maturity of Russian society, the minister noted. Mobilization plans have not been put into effect since the Great Patriotic War, Shoigu recalled, the system of mobilization training itself was not fully adapted to the new economic relations.

Partial mobilization made it possible to increase the combat capabilities of the troops and intensify hostilities, the head of the Defense Ministry added.

Earlier at the meeting, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that about 150,000 military personnel are being trained at the training grounds of the Russian Ministry of Defense, this sufficient reserve for special operations. Before that, on December 8, Putin declaredthat now there is no need for additional mobilization measures. A day earlier, he also said that it was pointless to talk about a new wave of mobilization.

In addition, the idea of ​​a second wave of mobilization is also rejected in the Kremlin. In November, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said that in the Kremlin not conducted any discussion about it. At the same time, he added that “he cannot speak for the Ministry of Defense.” In early December, Peskov called reports of a new wave of mobilization “provocative” and called for focusing on the statements of the Ministry of Defense and the President.
