The Russian Defense Ministry issued a statement saying that the head of the department, Sergei Shoigu, held a meeting in Moscow with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, with whom he discussed a grain deal and joint work in Syria.

As Shoigu noted, the grain deal was initiated by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, but today it was stopped through no fault of Russia.

“If everything that was promised to Russia is fulfilled, the deal will be extended,” Shoigu stressed.

He added that it turned out to be more difficult to do than to build new corridors and new land routes.

Shoigu also told Fidan that Russia intends to continue the strategic bilateral partnership with Turkey to solve problems in Syria.
