Shoigu announced the plans of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to strike missiles on the territory of Russia

Kyiv plans to strike at the territory of Russia, including the Crimea. Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu spoke about this during a meeting of the board of the military department.

“According to our information, the leadership of the Armed Forces of Ukraine plans to strike at the territory of the Russian Federation, including Crimea, with Himars and Storm Shadow missiles,” explained Shoigu (TASS quote).

The Minister of Defense noted that if these missiles are used outside the special operation zone, this will be regarded as a full-fledged involvement of the United States and Great Britain in the conflict. Shoigu warnedthat this would entail immediate strikes against the decision-making centers on the territory of Ukraine.

The transfer of long-range aircraft cruise missiles Storm Shadow from the UK to Ukraine became known in May. The Kremlin then said that such a move by London would require an “adequate response” from the Russian military. After that, the Ministry of Defense repeatedly reported that Storm Shadow missiles were used to attack new regions of Russia. Deliveries of American multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) HIMARS to the territory of Ukraine have been carried out since the summer of 2022.

The Russian authorities regularly criticize the supply of arms to Ukraine, noting that this could lead to the expansion of the conflict zone. Earlier on June 20, Dmitry Polyansky, First Deputy Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN, said that Russia had requested a meeting of the UN Security Council on June 29 on the supply of weapons by Western countries to Ukraine and their influence on attempts at a diplomatic settlement of the conflict.
