The military resource of Ukraine is almost completely exhausted, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said at the XI Moscow Conference on International Security.

According to the minister, Ukraine’s “publicized” offensive showed that its armed forces failed to achieve results despite all the military assistance from Western countries.

“Preliminary results of hostilities show that Ukraine’s military resource is almost exhausted,” he said (quote according to TASS).

Shoigu believes that the US policy regarding assistance to Ukraine is aimed at clearing the military arsenals of their partners and, as a result, clearing the market for their own military products.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine have been conducting offensive operations for more than two months, since the beginning of June. The Kremlin has repeatedly stated about the lack of success of the Ukrainian army and pointed to the heavy losses of the enemy. At the same time, Russian troops are conducting an offensive in the Kupyansk direction. Against this background, the Ukrainian authorities announced the evacuation in the Kyiv-controlled Kupyansky district of the Kharkiv region. August 13 in the region reported about the evacuation of 204 people. Later, the head of the Russian-controlled military-civilian administration of the Kharkiv region, Vitaly Ganchev, said that the Russian military had “a few kilometers” to go to Kupyansk.

At the end of July, Russian President Vladimir Putin declaredthat the Ukrainian counter-offensive failed. On July 21, Putin said that Kyiv could not achieve any results with a counteroffensive, neither Western-supplied equipment nor thousands of foreign mercenaries helped him in this. According to him, “during suicidal attacks” Ukraine lost tens of thousands of soldiers.

Shoigu later said that Ukraine in July lost 20,824 military personnel and 2,227 pieces of military equipment. According to him, among the weapons lost by Kiev: 10 Leopard tanks, 11 American Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, 40 American M777 artillery systems and 50 self-propelled artillery mounts from the USA, Germany, France, Poland and the UK. The minister stressed that the weapons supplied by the West only prolong the military conflict.
