State Duma deputy from the Crimean region Mikhail Sheremet said that a bill has been submitted to the lower house of the Russian parliament that would assign the Sea of Azov the status of “exclusively the internal sea of the Russian Federation.”

Thus, he explained, this sea will no longer be subject to the actions and principles of international law.

Sheremet added that the relevant State Duma committee has already made an unequivocally positive decision on this bill, which could be adopted before the end of the year.

Let us recall that until 2022, when the Kherson, Zaporozhye regions and the DPR became part of Russia, the Sea of Azov was considered the internal waters of Russia and Ukraine.
