Service dogs in Russia will be equipped with FPV cameras

The Innovation Center for Integrated Autonomous Solutions (ICAR) presented a new FPV device with an integrated video camera and speaker, designed for use with dogs that serve in the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations. The head of the organization, Dmitry Kuzyakin, announced this in an interview with TASS.

“As part of a partnership with the Ministry of Emergency Situations, CCAR specialists have developed the concept of equipping four-legged fighters with FPV cameras. The dog handler cannot always be close to his pet. Sometimes the dog has to penetrate narrow spaces, for example, when searching for people after the collapse of buildings. Often it is necessary to quickly penetrate hard-to-reach spaces ” Kuzyakin.

According to him, when using this device, the dog handler will be able to control the animal remotely using voice commands. “FPV consists of two radio channels: a control channel and a video transmission channel. For our four-legged colleagues, we have implemented video transmission, and control is carried out through the ‘audio channel’ – in the voice of the dog handler. Currently, this is a small device with an antenna and speaker, which is mounted on the chest animal on special equipment. The dog handler sees the same thing as his ‘partner’ and can communicate with him, giving commands,” the head of the CCAR emphasized.

Kuzyakin noted that FPV technologies became widespread after the start of a special military operation in Ukraine. “During our service, we have accumulated significant experience in the use of FPV technologies in combat conditions. It would be inappropriate not to use this experience in civilian life. There are many similar solutions, and we are just beginning to adapt military developments for peaceful purposes,” the specialist concluded.

The Center for Integrated Autonomous Solutions is based in Zhukovsky and is a key partner of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology and the Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute named after N. E. Zhukovsky. The organization is engaged in the development and production of FPV drones, training specialists and collaborating exclusively with specialized structures. The Center for Integrated Autonomous Solutions is a self-financing enterprise.
